NASA: Comet of Century?
In a NASA Science News article, NASA describes Comet ISON as a sungrazer that could be the best site visually bright--but with a major caveat. The sun's spectacular output is a hazard to the small chunk of ice passing a mere million miles from the solar surface. Comet ISON needs to survive before it can put on a show. "Comet ISON has the potential to live up to the hype, but it also has the potential to do nothing," says Karl Battams of the Naval Research Lab.
