Exhibit: Comets in Pastel

Posted by chuck // December 12, 2013 // in Events //

Artists from the Northern Indiana Pastel Society (NIPS) created artwork to commemorate Comet ISON's adventure near the sun.  The art is on display at the Harris Branch Library at 51446 Elm Road, Granger, IN.  The exhibit closes with an artists reception on Wednesday, December 18, at 5:00 p.m.

A range of imagery conveyed in pastels spans the lifetime of comets, from formation in a nebulous cloud (We Are Watching, by Sue Coultas) through visible apparition in the morning sky.  One artist even depicted a comet outburst (Comet Burst, by Christine Smith), which paralleled the fate of ISON.

Harris-Starlab_4260.JPGThe Harris Branch Library also hosted a stargazing opportunity under a portable planetarium during the online tramadol pharmacy Comet Festival. Families, scouts, and individual library patrons joined the celebration with the Starlab provided courtesy of ETHOS Science Center.
